About The Yogini Foundation
OUR MISSION
The Yogini Foundation - Project is a social ministry dedicated to empower, support and improve living conditions; health and wellness, and to foster self-reliance of Bhutanese women, girls, and nuns.
Through your support, we can contribute to the cultural preservation, social uplift, and sustainable living of Bhutan’s nuns, women, and girls as active agents of social change. Our commitment arises as witness to not only the suboptimal conditions of life in the nunneries, but also in recognition of the spiritual nourishment and education that a (GNH) Gross National Happiness society requires as Bhutan experiences material growth.
What is (GNH) Gross National Happiness?
In a rapidly changing modern society, the role of nunneries in tempering and reigning in the acceleration of material growth and development with compassion and basic human values must be elevated. Female agency supports a virtuous cycle of sustainable living practices, social and cultural uplift; and empowers women to participate and thrive in the socio-economic development of Bhutan. If not, the Bhutanese people as any other people, could be converted to consumerism and the never-ending, vicious cycle of greed.
